How did you get into the sector:
Having worked in conference and banqueting and outdoor catering which included many late nights and early starts , I had an opportunity to do 2 weeks holiday cover for Robyn Jones at Charlton House in her first contract which I loved. An opportunity then presented itself to join Charlton house when they won the contract with BUPA in London and I have remain in the sector ever since
What do you enjoy about your role:
The variety and daily challenges, along with a real sense of PRIDE when team members can be developed and give exceptional service
Career high:
Setting up Catering Academy, meaning I could really focus on what I truly believed in, people , food and service.
Career low:
Catering Alliance when it sold to ARAMARK, I felt I had been sold when I personally was not for sale. However with hindsight I now know this gave me the fabulous opportunity to do what I do now.
What are your plans for the next year:
To continue to grow and develop the business, giving our valued team members the opportunity for career progression.
What was the biggest break of your career:
Joining Catering Alliance as a small Midlands based independent to set up a Southern Division.
What are you most proud of in your career:
Everything that catering Academy has achieved in terms of growth and awards, including fast track 100 entries 2 years running.
What advice would you give to people keen to progress in the industry:
Be honest, work hard and if ever in doubt or concerned ask and speak up
What do you do in your downtime:
Look after my 2 year daughter and row, I am about to row in the World Coastal rowing championships for the first time this year.
