How did you get into the sector:
I moved to Nottingham from Cambridge when I was 18 to go to University. I soon realised that a student grant was never going to fund my social calendar so decided to get a bar job in our local pub and the rest is 17 years of hard work and determination.

What do you enjoy about your role:
Meeting such a diverse mix of people – no 2 candidates are ever the same.

Being appointed as Head of Recruitment for Nando’s

Leaving some fantastic friends behind in M&B

What are your plans for the next year:
To continue to attract the very best people into Nando’s with my fantastic team!

What was the biggest break of your career:
My Retail Operations Director, Andrew Buchanan believing in me and being appointed as a General Manager at the age of 22

What are you most proud of in your career:
The people that I have lead and developed

What advice would you give to people keen to progress in the industry:
Keep focused and make the most of the many people you will come into contact with – they can all help you in some way to develop and grow

Who inspires you:
My current HR Director, Julia Rosamond

What do you do in your downtime:
Spending time with my fiancée – planning a wedding eek!! Catching up with friends.

What question do you always ask in interviews:
Who would you love to have dinner with? Why? What would you talk about? What would you cook them?

Tips that have made you a success:
Keep grounded - never forget how lucky you are to be part of shaping someone’s potential new career but never compromise on an appointment!
